The New Year is upon us. It’s a time for new beginnings; a time to wipe our slates clean and start fresh. It’s also a time for planning and setting goals, which can be a scary thought for most of us. If you are anything like me, you make New Year’s Resolutions every year with the hope of bettering yourself. However, by January 17, you find yourself slacking and decide to just give up and try again next year. Well it’s next year and it’s time to get serious! We can take control and make 2023 our time! Here are 5 goals to make (and stick to!) this New Year:

Plan to Plan

Let’s face it – no one likes to plan. But it’s a necessary evil that we all must face sooner or later. Planning is a key aspect in management and a primary step on the ladder to success. Take some time out of your day to plan for the week, month, and year. Set up a weekly business meeting if you have to. Think about your goals and how you want to accomplish them.

Just Saying Hello!

This year, let’s make it a top priority to stay connected – with our friends, with our family, and with our customers. Whether it’s through social media or human interaction, keep in touch. In this world of materiality, we need to remember the importance of people. People help us to learn and grow, they give us motivation and support, and they provide us with vital connections.

I think I can, I think I can

We all have high expectations for the New Year– we want to make the most of it and we are determined to make it better than the last. It’s page 1 of 365! So in 2023, let’s improve ourselves and our businesses. If we focus on feedback, we can better our products and our services. We can launch new projects and learn from our past to bring our businesses to the next level.

Tick Tock

We all wish there were more hours in a day – but in reality, we have plenty of time, we just need to spend it wisely. So put that remote down and get off the couch, you can watch your favorite TV show later (isn’t that what Netflix is for?) There is nothing stopping you from accomplishing your goals other than yourself. Stop procrastinating and get started!

Won’t You be My Neighbor?

Sometimes we are so focused on ourselves that we forget those around us. Commit some time to giving back to your local community this year. For small businesses, community is everything. Our neighbors and local businesses are the ones supporting us and keeping us alive– why not give something back as a way to say thanks?
